LED strip for a bathroom or sauna – buying guide
In the Bathroom and Sauna LED Strips category, you can find a suitable solution based on the intended use, technical requirements and installation method. The guidance below will help you compare products before ordering.
Planning bathroom lighting
In a bathroom, an LED strip can be placed, for example, near the mirror, under furniture or as indirect lighting. A suitable colour temperature and well-planned light placement matter more than wattage alone. Choose the protection rating to suit the installation location, and make sure that the connections and cabling also meet the requirements of the space.
Sauna temperature is the deciding factor
In a sauna, the temperature can vary greatly depending on the installation height. An IP65 rating alone does not tell you about heat resistance. Check the product's maximum permitted ambient temperature, the installation locations approved by the manufacturer and any clearance requirements relating to the sauna heater. An ordinary bathroom strip should not be installed in a sauna without separate approval.
Light tone and evenness
Warm white is often a pleasant choice for sauna mood lighting. In a bathroom, more neutral light can make everyday tasks easier. A COB strip, or a densely spaced strip installed in a suitable profile, helps create a uniform line of light. An opal diffuser can reduce glare, provided it is suitable for the environment of use.
Power supply and serviceability
Size the power supply according to the total power of the strip, and place it where the temperature and humidity are within the manufacturer's permitted limits. An ordinary power supply should not be placed in the hot space of a sauna. Plan the connections and serviceability before closing up panels or furniture. Fixed installations must comply with the electrical installation requirements for wet rooms.
Compatible products and accessories
Always check the compatibility of your chosen product and its accessories in the model-specific product information. Also take a look at the following categories:
Frequently asked questions
Is IP65 enough for a sauna?
Not on its own. The strip must also withstand the temperature at the installation location in question.
Can an LED strip be installed next to a shower?
Suitability depends on the location, the product's protection rating and the installation requirements.
How can I hide the LED dots?
Choose a COB strip, or a sufficiently dense strip, together with a suitable profile and diffuser.
Can the power supply be placed in the sauna?
Only if its manufacturer permits the temperature and installation environment in question.
