Usein kysytyt kysymykset
LED strip for the kitchen – worktop and backsplash buying guide
Choosing the right product starts with the application, the dimensions and technical compatibility. This guide helps you compare the options before ordering.
Choose an LED strip for task lighting
A kitchen worktop needs even, sufficiently bright light for cooking. The right power for an LED strip depends on the mounting height, the depth of the worktop and the construction of the luminaire. For example, around 9–15 W/m is a workable starting point in many installations, but the final choice is made according to the required illuminance and the lumen value of the product.
COB strip and dot-free light
A glossy worktop can reflect individual LED dots. A COB strip, or an LED strip with a sufficiently dense LED pitch in a suitable profile, helps make the line of light even. An opal diffuser and the depth of the profile also affect the result. Position the strip so that it does not dazzle the user or cause strong shadows.
Colour temperature and colour rendering
3000 K is a warm choice for a cosy kitchen, while 4000 K gives a more neutral working light. With a CCT strip, you can adjust the shade of white to suit the situation. Good colour rendering, for example CRI 90+, helps food and materials look natural.
24 V power supply and dimming
A 24 V LED strip is a common choice for longer runs of light in the kitchen. Calculate the required power by multiplying W/m by the installation length, and choose a suitable power supply according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you want dimming, make sure the strip, the power supply and the controller are compatible. For long runs, plan the feed points to minimise voltage drop.
Profile position and installation
A surface-mounted profile is often the easiest option for retrofitting. A recessed profile can be installed in a groove made in the underside of the cabinet, and an angled profile allows the light to be directed at a slant. Measure the installation location, check the width of the strip in relation to the profile, and plan the cabling and the serviceability of the power supply.

Frequently asked questions
Which LED strip is suitable for a kitchen backsplash?
Often a 24 V COB strip with good colour rendering and sufficient light output for the worktop.
Which colour temperature should I choose for the kitchen?
3000 K is warm and 4000 K is neutral; with a CCT strip you can adjust the shade.
Is an LED profile necessary?
It helps with the finish, heat management and softening the light.
How do I avoid glare?
Choose a suitable profile and diffuser, and position the strip so that the light does not hit your eyes directly.
