Choosing an IP65 or IP67 LED strip
For moisture-protected LED strips in the IP65+ category, the right solution depends on the application, the technical requirements and the installation method. The guidance below will help you compare products before ordering.
What does the IP rating tell you?
An IP65 rating indicates dust-tightness and protection against water jets. IP67 means protection against temporary immersion under the test conditions of the standard. Neither rating alone guarantees durability under UV radiation, in salt water or in continuous underwater use. Check the application and temperature approved by the manufacturer.
Bathroom, terrace and sauna are different environments
In the splash zones of a bathroom, the protection is chosen according to the installation location and the electrical installation regulations. On a terrace, you need to take into account rain, temperature fluctuations and possible sunlight. In a sauna, an ordinary IP65 strip is not enough unless the product's operating temperature and installation height have been explicitly approved.
Luminous efficacy, colour temperature and power supply
Ambient lighting often needs less power than actual task or general lighting. Warm white adds softness, neutral white helps with precise work, and a CCT model allows adjustment. Calculate the strip's power by multiplying W/m by the installation length, and allow the power supply the safety margin required by the manufacturer.
Installation sealing and serviceability
Cut points, connectors, end caps and cable entries can weaken the IP protection of the finished installation. Use the sealing methods approved by the manufacturer and place the power supply in accordance with its own environmental limits. Also plan for serviceability before closing up profiles and fixtures.

Always check the compatibility of the chosen product and its accessories from the model-specific product information. Also have a look at the following categories:
Frequently asked questions
Is IP65 enough for outdoors?
For some outdoor installations, yes, provided that the product's outdoor use, UV resistance and connection protection are also approved.
Can an IP67 strip be submerged in water continuously?
Not on the basis of the IP67 rating alone. Continuous immersion requires a product specifically designed for it.
Can a moisture-protected strip be installed in a sauna?
Only if the strip withstands the temperature of the installation location according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Where should the LED driver be installed?
The power supply is placed in accordance with its own IP rating, operating temperature and the electrical installation instructions.
