Choosing a Recessed LED Profile

Where is a recessed profile suitable?
A recessed profile is placed in an installation groove, leaving a neat light surface and, where applicable, a flange visible. The solution is suitable, for example, for the underside of wall cabinets, shelves and other furniture. The material of the mounting surface, the available depth and the cable route all affect the choice of profile.
Groove dimensions and profile construction
Check the outer width of the profile, the width and depth of the installation groove, and the dimensions of the flange. A profile with a flange covers the edge of the groove; a profile without a flange requires an especially neat installation. Do not order based on the visible cover width alone. End caps and the fixing method may also require space.
LED strip width and cooling
The inner width of the profile must be sufficient for the LED strip, including at the joints. Aluminium helps to conduct heat away from the strip when the strip is installed according to the instructions. More powerful strips require adequate thermal management as specified by the manufacturer. Check that the wiring fits in the groove.
Diffuser and an even line of light
An opal diffuser softens visible LED dots, but the evenness of the light is also affected by the LED density of the strip, the depth of the profile and the viewing angle. In a shallow profile, a COB strip can be a workable option. Choose the shade of the cover also according to the desired light output and appearance.
