Pixel-Controlled LED Strips and Controllers

With pixel-controllable LED strips you can create moving light effects, colour changes and a variety of lighting animations. Unlike a standard RGB strip, the individual pixels of a digital LED strip can be controlled independently of one another. This makes pixel-controllable LED strips an excellent choice for intimate spaces and large events, where lighting can significantly enhance the atmosphere.

In this product category you will find digital COB LED strips, SPI pixel controllers and the accessories needed to control your lighting. The range includes, for example, 24 V RGB and RGB+NW strips as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and RF controllers. Every product is designed to deliver high-quality light and flexibility in planning, enabling the best lighting results in a variety of environments.

Our pixel-controllable LED strips offer an excellent way to create impressive lighting effects, where you can control buttons, colours and movement with a single controller. Lighting solutions such as RGB LED strips give you the opportunity to create personal moods and themes for different occasions.

Pixel-controllable LED strips – digital COB LED strips and SPI controllers

Pixel-controllable LED strips can be used to create moving light effects, colour gradients and a variety of lighting animations. Unlike a standard RGB LED strip, the individual pixels or pixel groups of a digital LED strip can be controlled independently of one another.

In the Valotehdas range you will find LEMLUX digital COB LED strips and the SPI LED controllers designed to control them. The range includes 24 V RGB and RGB+NW strips as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and RF controllers.

Digital COB LED strip – even light and moving colour effects

In COB technology, the LED chips are placed densely beneath a continuous light surface. As a result, the light looks even, without the separate light spots typical of traditional SMD LED strips.

When COB technology is combined with pixel control, the result is a continuous line of light, with different colours and moving light effects that can be programmed into its different sections.

What are pixel-controllable LED strips used for?

Digital LED strips are particularly well suited to projects where you want more from the lighting than a simple colour change or dimming.

  • Gaming rooms and entertainment spaces: Moving RGB colour effects, for example behind a gaming desk, monitors or furniture.
  • Indirect ceiling lighting: A strip installed along the ceiling line allows moving colour gradients and lighting animations.
  • Stairs and corridors: Light effects in which the light travels along different sections of the strip.
  • Shops and commercial spaces: Accent lighting for displays and interior structures.
  • Interior lighting: Programmable colour effects for shelves, furniture and other structures.

SPI LED controllers – how do you control a pixel-controllable LED strip?

A pixel-controllable LED strip requires a compatible digital LED controller. An SPI controller lets you manage the strip's colours, brightness and a variety of moving light effects.

The range includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and RF-controlled SPI LED controllers. Depending on the controller, the lighting can be adjusted with a mobile app, a remote control or another method supported by the controller.

When choosing a controller, check:

  • Driver IC: The controller must support the digital control protocol of the LED strip.
  • Number of pixels: The controller's capacity must be sufficient for the entire strip being controlled.
  • Operating voltage: The electrical specifications of the strip, controller and power supply must be compatible.
  • Control method: Choose the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or RF controller that suits your needs.

What do you need to install a pixel-controllable LED strip?

A working pixel-controlled LED lighting installation consists of three main parts: the LED strip, a compatible SPI controller and a correctly sized power supply.

1. LED strip
Choose an RGB or RGB+NW strip suitable for your project. Check the strip's operating voltage, power and driver IC.

2. SPI LED controller
Choose a controller that supports the strip's driver IC and number of pixels. Also check the control functions you need.

3. LED power supply
Choose a power supply that matches the strip's nominal voltage. For example, a 24 V strip requires a 24 V DC power supply. Size the power according to the total consumption of the strip.

Long installations may require power to be fed in at several points to reduce voltage drop. We recommend installing the LED strip in a suitable aluminium profile, which gives the installation a finished look and helps with heat management.

Frequently asked questions about pixel-controllable LED strips

What is the difference between a standard RGB LED strip and a pixel-controllable LED strip?

In a standard RGB LED strip, the whole strip usually shows the same colour at the same time. In a pixel-controllable strip, individual pixels or pixel groups can be controlled separately, which makes moving colour effects possible.

Can a pixel-controllable LED strip be controlled with a standard RGB controller?

Usually not. A pixel-controllable LED strip requires a compatible digital controller that supports the control protocol used by the strip.

Can several LED strips be connected to the same SPI controller?

That depends on the controller's features, the number of pixels it supports and the wiring method. Check the controller's technical data before installation.

What power supply does a digital LED strip need?

The operating voltage of the power supply must match the nominal voltage of the strip. The required power is calculated from the total length of the strip and its stated power consumption per metre. It is advisable to leave a sufficient power margin when sizing.
